james anderson, phd.

Dr. James Anderson assists the Axon technical team in the development of algorithms for analysis and interpretation of EEG signals during sleep, and in the resolution of some of the hardware and logistical issues associated with the creation of a bionic device. Anderson is the former Chair of the Brown University Cognitive Science Department and is currently a Professor of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences at the University. Anderson’s research focuses on understanding brain-like computation using “neural networks,” simplifications of the complexities of the human brain. His recent area of focus has been on developing a set of models for the intermediate-level organization of the nervous system. He has published several papers and well-known books on neural nets, including An Introduction to Neural Networks (1995, MIT Press). Anderson holds a B.Sc. degree in Physics and a Ph.D. in Physiology, both from MIT.
